This cotton petticoat has a definite bustle shape to it. The back is tightly cartridge pleated while the front lies almost smooth with only two small inverted box pleats on either side of the center panel.

A unique feature to this petticoat is the straps. It has two shoulder straps. These straps are very long, indicating they might have been crossed over the torso.

The petticoat closes with a single button at the center back. The petticoat waist measures 14" across when buttoned. There is a 1 1/4" turned hem at the bottom. There are nine 1/4" tucks decorating the petticoat. These are arranged in three groups; a group of two tucks, a group of three tucks and a group of four tucks.

There is an applied 4 1/2" row of vertical tucks going around the entire circumference of the petticoat.
