This petticoat was part of an 1890s Wedding trousseau. The petticoat is constructed of fine cotton and closes with a single button at the center back of the waist. The skirt is constructed of 7 gores with a ruffled panel applied on top of the constructed petticoat 16" from the hem. There is 2" of white-work trim at the bottom of the ruffle with 2 sets of 3 machine pin-tucks above it. On top of where the ruffled panel is attached to the petticoat base is a row of herringbone-stitched worked trim.

The hem of the skirt is 1 3/8" turned hem. All the seams are french felled. The waist of the skirt fits flatly into the waistband except for some slight gathering near the opening. The petticoat measures 36" from waist to hem and the waist is 10" across.
