Here is a pair of interesting 19th century mitts. The interesting thing about this pair is the drastically different sizes of the two mitts! The smaller of the two is 5 1/4" long and 3 1/8" wide, with a 1 1/2" thumb that is 1" wide. The larger mitt is 6 1/4" long, 4" wide, with a thumb 1 3/4" long and 1 3/8" wide. Whether these belonged to the same wearer or not I do not know!

The mitts are knitted on a very fine scale.
